why did hagar decide to marry bram, did it bring her and her father closer?

Hagar marries Bram out of lust for lack of a better word. she is attracted to his looks and gruffness, he`s everything she has told to been kept away from and not to be involved with. once she marries Bram her and her fathers realtionship diminses greatly, so much so he dosent show up at her wedding, he writes her out of the will, and then in return Hagar does not attend his funeral, although they both love each other and live in the same town, they never talk, not even with Death knocking on the front door.
