In the first chapter of the novel, Ralph and Piggy find each other as they are walking toward the beach. While meandering at the shore, they find a conch shell. The intelligent Piggy suggests to Ralph to blow the conch to see if there are any other boys on the island that are also stranded. Ralph does just that and many boys ranging in ages 5 to almost 12 start appearing on the beach, including a choir of boys led by Jack. The boys decide that they must choose a leader and since Ralph was the one to blow the conch shell and have a meeting, he is the natural choice of leader according to the boys. They vote him as leader. Jack is not happy with this decision as he thinks he would make a better leader. The perceptive Ralph can see this and decides to make Jack and his choir of boys the hunters and soldier of the group. Ralph knows it's better to keep Jack happy as to avoid trouble later. For the time being, Jack is content with this decision. However, this contentment will cease to exist later in the novel.

it is the srange situation and necessity to act at their own which urged them to choose a leader so their personal strength , understanding of the situation that gave them the power and also the weaknesses of other characters gave them the powert,
There are always people who, in a group, come out with better qualities as a leader than others. The strongest people however, become the greater influences, which the others decide to follow. However, sometimes the strongest person is not the best choice. Authors often show how humans select this stronger person, in order to give an understanding of the different powers that some people can posses over others. In William Golding's novel, Lord of the Flies Ralph though not the stronger person, demonstrates a better understanding of people which gives Ralph better leadership qualities than Jack.
