The benefits are that they taste good.  However, although I find myself extremely interested in possible medicinal properties, I caution against believing everything you read.  I am aware that many herbs have been used throught the years for healing etc.  However, Science and medicine rely not only on studies but the conformation of those studies.  Perhaps someday, you will be part of one such study and isolate a benifical compound from these substances.  In the mean time, be careful not to waste your money or worse endanger your health on something not fully understood.
