The thing that I am most curious to know about learning to become a better leader is if it is really possible to do this. In other words, I am curious to know whether a person can really become a better leader through learning or if leadership is more of an innate thing that cannot be learned. I also wonder if it is really possible to objectively determine who is a good leader and who is not.
In some ways, it seems as if leadership is an innate trait, not a skill. Leadership is about motivating others and that does not seem to be a technical skill. It seems to be more of a thing that you are able to do if you have charisma and are unable to do if you do not have charisma. If this is the case, it would seem like it would be impossible to learn to be a leader.
Relatedly, I wonder if it is possible to determine who is a good leader and whether they are getting better through learning. It is easy to judge who runs the fastest, or who can make the most of a given product using a given tool. But it is hard to judge who is best at motivating others because so many factors go into whether a worker is motivated.
