What would you advise a victim to do following an assault? Explain your answer.
1 Answer | add yours
The answer to this question depends highly on the nature and circumstances of the assault. Was it a physical assault or sexual assault? Was anything stolen? Is the victim seriously physically injured? Is the victim experiencing emotional distress from the assault? Where did it take place (in the home, on the street, a place of business, etc.)?
In any situation the victim should receive medical care. The victim’s next of kin should also be contacted in order to care for the individual and provide emotional support. A counsellor should be highly recommended if the victim is emotionally distressed from the assault.
