Herbert Hoover essentially faced one problem, but it was one of the biggest any president has ever faced.
Hoover was faced with economic problems from the Great Depression. This meant that he had to try to figure out some way to solve the worst economic crisis in the nation's history. He had to figure out, for example, how to get businesses to stop laying people off or reducing their wages. He had to do this, he thought, without doing too much to get the government involved in the economy. As a result of the Depression, Hoover also had to figure out what to do with the Bonus Army. Sadly for the country and for Hoover, he never figured out how to solve the problems that faced him so he goes down in history as one of the least-liked presidents of all time.
