The National Convention was held in the early part of the French Revolution, in which the king was deposed and the First French Republic was installed to draft a constitution. The slogan was "Liberty, Fraternity, Equality." The Convention attempted to establish a democracy in France; unfortunately it failed as more radical political factions of the Revolution took control.
