What is Veracruz, Mexico's terrain?

The terrain of the state of Veracruz in Mexico is one of plains on the north and south gulf that extend across the land mass that makes up Veracruz. However, Veracruz's terrain is also dotted with volcanoes in its center. In addition, this state also has major rivers which course their way through the regions topography. Moreover, various lakes also make up the overall terrain of this Mexican state.
Veracruz has a narrow coastal plain. The terrain is agricultural primarily. It also has mountainous areas, which are on the states western border. The state also includes port cities, one of them being the city of Veracruz.
