Hans Gross wrote a classic book, later translated title as Criminal Investigation, that detailed the assistance that investigators could expect from the fields of microscopy, chemistry, physics, mineralogy, zoology, botany, anthropometry, and fingerprinting. He then later introduced the forensic jounal, which reports improved methods of scientific crime detection.
