Conceived in 1929, the Uniform Crime Reports compile and make available regularly FBI collected, analyzed and reported information about crime in the nation. Information is gathered by the FBI from a broad base of sources including 18,000 cities, colleges and universities, tribes, and local reporting agencies.
Today, four annual publications, Crime in the United States, National Incident-Based Reporting System, Law Enforcement Officers Killed and Assaulted, and Hate Crime Statistics are produced.... (FBI)
