John Steinbeck in most of his books talks about the times of the Great Depression and unveils the brutality of the life of the working people, the lower class. In Of Mice and Men he makes the reader develop a sympathetic view of the characters and their pathetic lives aswell as exposing the utter truth of life in the 1930's
