What is the significance of the title "Chanclas"?
I am doing a poster board on this vignette and I don't know the meaning of the title.

Chanclas translates to "old shoes" and also "good for nothing". This is symbolic in Esperanza's feelings at the baptism. The shoes make her worthless, and she does not enjoy herself. Earlier, she had worn high heels, and her self esteem rose a bit.
