What is roulette?

Roulette is a gambling game of a sort that is usually played in casinos (as opposed to the sort of game like poker that a person can play at home with their friends). Roulette uses a wheel that spins and has a bunch of different slots in it. The wheel spins, a ball is tossed in and the wheel gradually slows down. As it does, the ball finally can come to rest in one of the slots in the wheel. The gamblers place bets based on where they think (or hope) that the ball will come to rest.

Roulette is game played at casinos. The game involves a circular wheel which has pockets. Players who play roulette can bet on a single number, a range of numbers, a particular color or whether the number is odd or even. The circular wheel is then rotated and a ball is spun. The ball after a few rotations falls into one of the 37 or 38 pockets on the wheel. Depending on what the player choses and where the ball landed, he/she loses or wins.
As with all games at a casino the casino decides the payment that has to be made to play the game and the price that a winner gets based on what the odds of getting what the player chose are. It is meant to ensure that the casino always makes a profit.

Roulette (sometimes known as 'rulet') is a Casino Strategy named after a French diminutive for "little wheel". In the game, players may choose to place bets on either a single number or a range of numbers, the colors red or black, or whether the number is odd or even. To determine the winning number and color, a croupier spins a wheel in one direction, then spins a ball in the opposite direction around a tilted circular track running around the circumference of the wheel. The ball eventually loses momentum and falls on to the wheel and into one of 37 (in French/European roulette) or 38 (in American roulette) colored and numbered pockets on the wheel
