This is an important question. Let me give you a few perspectives.

The future of Canada and all nations seems precarious due to homegrown terrorists and foreign terrorists. For this reason, the world today is a changed world.

The police will have an important role, but the common citizen will have to play an important role as well, because the police cannot be everywhere. Citizen will have to be the eyes and ears of society. As the commercials says "if you see something, say something."

In addition, in view of the weakened economy, citizens will have to play a bigger role in policing society.
