Pros of cloning: Thousand of genes or DNA sequences from prokaryotes and eukaryotes including animals and plants have been cloned during the last 20 years. These cloned sequences, whether genes or regulatory sequences have been used for a variety of purposes, both for basic studies and applied uses including commercial uses. They have particularly proved useful in (a) the study of the function of a variety of regulatory DNA sequences and (b) the application of gene technology in areas like, medicine, agriculture and industry. Cons of cloning: It has also disadvantages. It reduces diversity in nature and genes. Cloning of body organ increases malpractices in our society. Animal and human clones could have some defects. They have their own mind and they can use their mind against the human beings.
