Strategic planning is the process used by organizations to plan for the future.  It should develop a clear purpose of where the organization is headed and determine what resources are needed and how they should be allocated to reach their goals. Strategic planning would include determining belief statements and the development of a mission statement for the organization. It is important that all stakeholders within the organization be involved in this process and not just top management. This ensures that everyone has buy in for the vision and plan. Also, some of the people that are more involved in the day to day actual operations have a better idea of what is actually working or may work for the organization.
