One of the biggest positives of organizational design in business is the narrowing of strategies over the entire company. By giving each part of the business a clear goal to work toward, and then structuring the work environment and employees to best focus on their skill-sets, the organizational design of the company increases efficiency and decreases busywork.
The organizational design of the company can also allow each unit of the company to work towards a different part of the same overall strategy; this eliminates overlapping or redundant work, and makes each position valuable. This focus on end-goals also reduces waste of company resources and creates an environment where each worker is valuable in their position; interestingly, one side effect can be the specialization of positions instead of training for extra skill-sets, which itself is not necessarily positive or negative.
