"Where is the Love" was written after the events of 9/11 and thus reflects a widespread feeling of cynicism towards people and the government. The Black Eyed Peas sing that it is their faith that allows them to keep going inspite of the greed, rampant consumerism, racism, and violence that appears to be escalating as a result of the War on Terror. The human spirit is suffering. The musiciams ask if humans are capable of loving each other in a world where conditions are so dire. Love and peace are revealed to be the solution to the world's problems, but it is uncertain if love and peace still exist in a world gone mad.
