Anabolic steroids are also termed anabolic-androgen steroids or AAS. They are produced in the body and regulate testosterone production which is responsible for male sex characteristics including muscle tissue. Synthetic anabolic-androgen steroids were developed to assist people suffering from a variety of medical ailments. However these steroids are also used by athletes hoping to improve performance as well as body-builders trying to improve appearance. Benefits sought after include increase in body weight, increase in lean muscle mass, and an increase in muscle strength.

Documented side effects of anabolic steroids include, but are not limited to, acne, baldness, liver and heart problems (heart enlargement, high blood pressure), aggression, testicular atrophy, gynecomastia, growth retardation (secondary to disturbance of body's natural system).

One example of an anabolic steroid is stanozol with the market name Winstrol and the slang name "Winny".  There are many others including, HGH, Android, Genabol, etc.

Your healthy body functions best with its own steroid production.
