Lyric is a song that expresses a Single emotion. And it is a musical composition. Even if the language of the song is unpolished it is made musical by the voice of the singer. Even the subject matter of the Lyric was important provided the singer can evoke the right emotions in the listners. A Lyric is not long. Edgar Allen Poe, the Americn poer who has many Lyrics to his credit, said that a Lyric can never be long. Thus the Ode, Sonnet, the song so on are regarded as Lyrics.Palgrave in the Preface to his Golden Treasury states that Lyric "turn on some single thought, feeling or situation". It is a Subjective poem giving expression to the poets emotions. Hence it is always personal
