What are the interchapters in Cannery Row?

Interchapters generally provide supporting information and analysis to understand a story but don't necessarily form part of the storyline itself. They may introduce concepts, themes, and minor characters used to develop the story. Steinbeck's interchapters in Cannery Row are less distinct than those in The Grapes of Wrath and perhaps begin with chapter 4 and include perhaps chapters 10, 12, and 14....
