In an accident investigation, many factors must be considered and recorded because the scene will not stay static. Who is involved , witnesses to the scene even though eyewitness accounts are not always accurate, bystanders who helped the victims, and official personnel involved with names and addresses to contact them later are all necessary. Measurements of brake marks, placement of where the vehicles ended up, obstacles to clearly see the accident, and impairment of either driver with all of it clearly written up as it will be necessary in a lawsuit, an insurance question, fault assigned if the state requires it, or any action requiring written information.
