Lymph is a fluid that travels through the body between cells and separately from blood.  The lymph fluid carries the messages regarding the immune system. The lymph system removes excess fluid from the body.  The lymph fluid travels in channels separately from the blood stream.

The lymph fluid is produced in various regions of the body including lymph glands in the armpit, tonsil, and groin region of the body. Lymph fluid carries white blood cells which are produced in the bone marrow to fight infection.

Lymph fluid passes through lymph nodes which purify and render harmless any bacteria or virus present in the fluid.
