The equation of the mirror image of the line with equation 3x + 2y = 8 has to be determined.

When a line is reflected off the x-axis, the sign of the y-coordinate changes. To determine the equation of the mirror image replace y with -y. This gives 3x + 2*(-y) = 8

=> 3x - 2y = 8

The graph of the given line 3x + 2y = 8 (in black) and its mirror image 3x - 2y = 8 (in red) off the x-axis is:

The required equation of the mirror image is 3x - 2y = 8
