what does james think about his stepmother, mrs. keller

James Keller is a very unlikable character in the story. He is Helen's older half brother. He is very unsympathetic to Helen's condition. He is embarrassed by her and feels she should be put away. James observes Anne working with Helen and feels she and Helen's mother are wasting their time. Helen, he feels is just imitating sign language like a monkey and has no understanding of what she is doing. He states many times in the story that Helen in his opinion is mentally defective. There is a scene in the story where he actually seems to be flirting with Anne. He tells her she is pretty-but her eyes ruin her. He is at odds with Kate Keller over Helen's care and teaching.
