In "Bud, Not Buddy", what did Bud remember most about the stop at Hooverville and why?

What about the Hooverville community resembled Bud?

(It's only one question - it seems kind of long but that's number 4 of 10).

I think that Deza Malone was what Bud remembered most about the stop at Hooverville.  She made him see that his memory of his mother's love made him something special; when Bud told her how his mother loved him, Deza pointed out, "I guess you're different...I guess you sort of carry your family around inside of you".  And, of course, it is Deza who gave Bud his first kiss.  As Bud fled the ruined shantytown, he thought, "it seemed like the only good thing that came out of going to Hooverville was that I finally kissed a girl" (Chapter 8), and at the end of the story, Bud remembered Deza fondly, concluding, "Deza Malone was right, I was carrying Momma inside me and there wasn't anyone or anything that could take away from that" (Chapter 19).

Bud actually met a number of people with kind hearts at Hooverville who treated him with dignity and respect.  One of the first people he encountered there was the mouth organ man, who pointed out, "all these people...are just like you, they're tired, hungry and a little bit nervous about tomorrow...this here is the right place for (you) to be 'cause we're all in the same boat".  The people of the Hooverville community were a lot like Bud because they were all down on their luck - homeless, essentially penniless, and not sure what the future would bring (Chapter 8).

bud remembers the most about hooverville is his kiss with Dezza. I think that that is what Bud remembers is because that was Buds first time kissing a girl.
