What is Charlie's relationship with his family in Stephen Chbosky's Perks of Being a Wallflower?

I don't really have a straight-foreward answer but after he tells his parents about what Aunt Helen did, they tend to pay more attention. They feel guilty. Charlie's relationship with his parents is very weak. He sees and receives more love from his friends.
