Buried Child was written by the playwright Sam Shepard and first opened in New York in the year 1978. As time marched on, Shepard achieved more and more commercial success and produced more work for film and stage. In 1995, Sam Shepard changed the text of the Buried Child and elaborated that the father of the buried child was Tilden and it has been said of the version, that he included more comedy and wit. The new version of the Buried Child was produced in Chicago rather than in New York.
