Mathematics is a foundation on which the various sciences are constructed and it is essential for the study of most concepts in science.
Physics does not have any application in mathematics. To understand any concept in mathematics, there is no requirement to know the concepts of physics, though in many cases the process does become easier with real life illustrations being provided of how the mathematical concepts are actually used.
Mathematics is analogous to the alphabets used in language. To construct words the alphabets have to be used, though words themselves have no part to play in the use of the alphabets except in making it easier to learn them with examples of the usage of alphabets provided by words.
