This is a story about the conflict between progress and tradition in an African village and takes place on a wedding day. Kegoletile is a well-to-do young man who is involved with two very different women. Neo, the woman he is marrying, is educated, arrogant, and modern. Mathata is not educated and she is traditional in her ways yet shows people respect. Kegoletile has impregnated both woman and even though he is to marry Neo, he still spends a lot of time with Mathata and shows her real affection. He marries Neo, but the reader wonders if he has made the right decision. As the title suggests, this story is merely a snapshot, a glimpse, into the characters' lives.
