Using the equation h=-0.09d^2 + 0.9d + 2

how far from the floor is the ball when the player releases it?

where h is the height of the basketball, in metres, and d is the horizontal dstance of the ball from the player , in metres

how do you find it?

When the player releases the ball the horizontal distance from the player would be 0 meters.

So substitute d=0 into the equation to get

`h = -0.09(0)^2 + 0.9(0) + 2 = 2` meters
