Two particles of weights m1, m2 and loads q1,q2,before accelerated by the same potential difference, enter perpendicullar to a magnetic field.

Find the ratio of trajectory radius of curvature. Apps to proton and alfa particle.

The particles describe circles with radius:

R=m*v/(q*B), but v= sqrt (2qU/m) (from q*U=m*v^2/2)

R1/R2=(m1/m2)(q2/q1)(v1/v2)=(m1/m2)(q2/q1)sqrt [(q1/q2)*(m2/m1)]=sqrt[(m1/m2)(q2/q1)]

In case of proton and alfa particle:

R1/R2=sqrt [(mp/4mp)*(2e/e)]=1/sqrt2
