We have the Grade Point Average (GPA) scores on a four-point scale of students in Dr. Mindless’ sociology class as:

Student     GPA (`x_i` )

a       2.5

b      2.0

c       3.7

d       4.0

e       3.0

f        2.2

g       2.5

h        2.1

i        3.0

j        2.5

k       2.6

l        1.6

m       2.4

Here, N = 13

       `sumx_i = (2.5+2.0+3.7+4.0+3.0+2.2+2.5+2.1+3.0+2.5+2.6+1.6+2.4) = 34.1`

Mean `barX = 1/Nsumx_i`

`= 34.1/13`

`= 2.6230769`

`= 2.6` (after rounding off to the nearest tenthplace of a fraction).

Therefore, the mean of the GPA scores obtained by the students in Dr. Mindless' sociology class is 2.6.
