The first text that comes to mind that might be compared to the short film "The Mysterious Geographic Explorations of Jasper Morello, Part I, Jasper Morello and the Lost Airship" (2005, Australian) is a well loved science fiction novel by John Wyndham called The Day of the Triffid. In it, catastrophe happens, triffids dominate humankind and the remaining humans must find a way to save themselves.

Another text is The Lost World by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, illustrious author of The White Company and the Sherlock Holmes detective stories. In it, the narrator and an irascible scientist seek to prove the existence of a remnant of prehistoric nature.
