Why do other characters so often go at Spooky Lacroix, and how does Highway shape the reader's attitudes towards Spooky in Dry Lips Oughta Move To Kapuskasing by Tomson Highway? (Spooky Lacroix takes a lot of criticism from the other characters.)

Spooky gets a lot of criticism because he stirs up a lot of criticism. He has, in the expression of critic Anne Nothof, substituted an addiction to alcohol with an addiction to religion. He uses "White" religion as a weapon against Native Canadian supernaturalists who honor, represent and seek to foster the religion of their ancestors, for example, when Simon Starblanket seeks to go to South Dakota to dance with the Sioux.
