The equation 2^(x-3) = 16 has to be solved for x.

2^(x-3) = 16

=> 2^(x - 3) = 2^4

as the base is the same, the exponents can be equated

x - 3 = 4

=> x = 7

The solution of the equation 2^(x-3) = 16 is x = 7
