The Scopes trial represented much of the conflict and angst of the 1920s as it seemed to be fight between

My answer for this question is A. science and religion but I'm not really sure that my answer is a right answer.

Although the Scopes Trial did involve the conflict between science and religion, A is not the correct answer to this question. Instead, D is the better answer.
During the 1920s, there was a great deal of cultural change going on in the United States. Most of that change was centered in the cities. People in rural areas were much less affected by the change. The changes taking place in the cities were in line with a new set of values while the people in rural areas were more likely to hold to traditional values. The Scopes Trial was part of all of these conflicts. Therefore, D is the best answer.
