1. 1.7cm = 200m

therefore 1 cm = 200 divided by 1.7

5.1 cm =  200 divided by 1.7 X 5.1 = 600m

2. 1.7 cm = 200 m

therefore 1cm = 200 divided by 1.7

15.3 cm = 200 divided by 1.7 X 15.3 = 1800m

This problem has a deceptively simple solution.  Notice that 5.1 = 1.7 X 3  and 15.3 = 1.7 X 9  If 1.7 cm = 200 m, then the answers would be 3 X 200 m or 600 m and 9 X 200 or 1800 m

1.7cm=200m

Thus 1cm= 200/1.7 = 117.6m

1) 5.1cm = 5.1*117.6= 600m (to 3 sig. fig.)

2) 15.3 cm = 15.3*117.6= 1800m (to 3 sig. fig.)
