In a sample bag of M& M's there are 5 brown, 6 yellow, 4 blue, 3 green and 2 orange.

What is the probability of getting 3 yellow if 3 are taken at a time?

What is the probability of getting 1 brown and 2 orange if 3 are taken at a time?

Given in a bag of m&m's :

brown = 5

yellow= 6

blue = 4

green = 3

orange= 2

Total for all (n)=  20 m&m's

a) probability of getting 3 yellow:

Probilit of getting a yellow= p(yellow)/ n = 6/20 = 3/10

P( 3 yellows) = P(yellow)*p(yellow)*p(yellow)

                     = 0.3 * 0.3 * 0.3

                      = 0.027

b)probability of 1 brown and 2 orange:

p ( brown) = 5/20 = 1/4= 0.25

p (orange) = 2/20 = 1/10 = 0.1

P(1 brown and 2 orange) = p(brown)*p(orange)*p(orange)

                                        = 0.25 * 0.1 * 0.1

                                        = 0.0025
