`1^o = 60'`
Hence, 48 minutes is 0.80 degrees:
`48' * ((1^o)/(60')) = 0.80^o`
This means that 38 degrees and 48 minutes is:
`38^o + 48' * ((1^o)/(60')) = 38^o + 0.8^o = 38.8^o`
That is, 38.8 degrees.

To round off 38 degrees and 48 minutes to the nearest tenth of a degree, first we have to convert 48 minutes in terms of degrees.
Since there are 60 minutes in each degree,
48 minutes = `(48/60)degrees=0.8degrees`
` ` Hence, 38 degrees and 48 minutes=(38+0.8)degrees=38.8degrees
Therefore, rounding off to the nearest tenth of a degree gives 38.80 degrees.
The required answer is 38.80 degrees.
