Rectangular doghouses come in two sizes at super z. The smaller size is 2 feet by 1 feet. The larger size is 4 feet by 2 feet. How many square feet greater is the larger doghouse?

Get the area of the dog houses.

Since it is stated that the dog houses will be rectangular, you use the formula:

`A_(rec)=l*w`

` `

or simply multiply the dimensions.

`A_s` = area of the smaller house 

`A_s = 2*1 = 2 sq. ft`

`A_l` = area of the larger house  

`A_l = 4*2 = 8 sq. ft`

To solve how many greater is the larger house, subtract the area of the smaller from the area of the larger houes.

`A_l - A_s = 8 - 2 = 6`

Therefore, the larger house is greater by 6 sq. ft.
