Quotes on Lady Macbeth's Evil, ambitious and guilt riden sides.

hi :) i have an essay to write about how shakespeare presents ideas about evil through the strong emotions of lady macbeth.

Please help me asap to find quotations and analytical points that i could include in this essay, mainly about her evil and how the ambition to become queen makes her evil, which then turns into guilt, resulting in her going mad and killing herself :-)

thank you and post asap,, essay is in for 5th Jan 2012!!

The most prominent quote from Macbeth which proves Lady Macbeth to be evil is:

Come, you spirits
That tend on mortal thoughts, unsex me here,
And fill me from the crown to the toe top-full
Of direst cruelty! make thick my blood;
Stop up the access and passage to remorse,
That no compunctious visitings of nature
Shake my fell purpose, nor keep peace between
The effect and it! (I,v,41-48)

Here, Lady Macbeth is showing readers that nothing can stop her. The most poignant fact being that she asks for "direst cruelty." She is, by far, one of the most evil characters in the play.

I know the spots monologue is often discussed and parodied, but I don't think you could write this essay without it. Read carefully, and see if you can solidify what it means to you and relate it to the rest of the essay and your topic and theme of guilt.
