Q. Two men A and B are fighting a tug of war with a rope,whose mass is negligible compared to the masses of men. The free-body diagrams of A and B are shown in figure.It is given that none of them leaves contact with the ground.

i) Find the values of F and P.

ii) Who's winning at this moment?

Given cos 37° = `(4/5)`

The horizontal component of the force P is `Pcos(53)`

The horizontal component of the force F is  `Fcos(37)`

But

`Pcos(53)=500`

`Pxx.6018=500`

`P=830.32 N`  in direction of directed towards A

and

`Fcos(37)=500`

`Fxx.7986=500`

`F=626.1 N`  in direction of directed towards B

Resultant of the horizontal forces is =830.32-626.1=204.22 N  towards A . Thus A will win the game.
