Q. If roots of quadratic equation `ax^2+2bx+c=0` are not real,then `ax^2+2bxy+cy^2+dx+ey+f=0` represents

a) Ellipse

b) Circle

c) Parabola

d)Hyperbola

and why?

Ans. A Ellipse

because

`ax^2+2bx+c=0`  has no real roots.

i.e.

`(2b)^2-4ac<0`

`b^2-ac<0`
