The point P(-1,1/3) lies on the graph of exponential function `f(x) = b^x` if replacing -`1` for x in equation of exponential function, yields `1/3` , such that:

`f(-1) = b^(-1) => 1/3 = b^(-1) `

Using the negative power property yields:

`1/3 = 1/b => b = 3`

Hence, evaluating the value of b, under the given conditions, yields `b = 3` .
