To solve an equation containing a variable exponent, isolate the exponential quantity. Then take natural (base e) log on both sides.

`2^x = 13`

`rArr ln(2^x)=ln(13)`

`rArr xln2=ln13`

`rArr x=ln13/ln2`

`rArr x ~~ 3.70`

Therefore, the value of x is approximately 3.70.
