Unitarianism was one religion that emerged. People of this religion believe that God existed in only one person and stressed the goodness of man. Ralph Waldo Emerson was one person who accepted these beliefs.
Deism also appeared which Unitarianism stemmed from. Deists relied on the doctrine of science and reason than those who beleived in revelations from God and the Bible. They did not believe that Christ was the Son of God, but did believe in some type of Supreme Being. They also did not believe in the idea of sin and sinners.
In 1830, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints emerged. Its leader was Jospeh Smith who believed that Jesus Christ and God the Father appeared to him in a grove and told him that none of the churches on the earth were true. He translated from gold plates, The Book of Mormon which is an appendage to the Bible; a history of the South American people so to speak.
