You start by listing the aspects of each.

Natty was old, had lived a long and full life, didn't have family but did have an "adopted son" that was the pawnee chief.  The soldier whose life he had saved was also there, able to give him the proper christian burial that the tribe couldn't/wouldn't.  And while he had suffered through old age and the decline a long time, he was strong and peaceful, even brave in the face of his death.

John on the other hand was young, leaving behind a mother and brother who would miss him dearly.  While he was unable tyo be with his family, he did get to say goodbye in a letter to them.  Like Natty, he stayed strong and brave throughout the ordeal, suffering silently and calmly.  He was grateful to Nurse Perriwinkle for being there, glad for the comfort she provided him so much that he was brought to tears, feeling he was finally able to relax just a little now that he wasn't alone.  Up until the very end, he held out, hoping to recieve the letter he so dearly wanted.

In the end, however different they were from themselves were strong, brave, and peacful in the face of danger.

Well we have to look at what these two have gone through in their lives. To see if we can find any similarities and diffrencenes.

In The Prairie, Natty Bumppo is of middle age, had lived a long and full life, of adventure and hardships. He didn't have family but did have an "adopted son" that was the pawnee chief. And while he had suffered through old age and the decline a long time, he was strong and peaceful, even brave in the face of his death.

In Hospital Sketches, John Suhre, is a Virginia blacksmith with whoes suffering from fatal wounds of a bullet wound through his lungs. John had a mother and brother, who woudl miss him dearly. And while he couldn't see them he was able to send them a letter. Nurse Perriwinkle is in charge of telling John, the news that he will be unable to make it. Nurse Perriwinkle rattling her mind, with how to tell him the news, tries to tell it as elequintely as she can. John, having been told of his demised, took the news in a calm, and serene manner.

He was grateful to Nurse Perriwinkle for being there, glad for the comfort she provided him so much that he was brought to tears, feeling he was finally able to relax just a little now that he wasn't alone.

In conclustion, though both of these men came from diffrent backgrounds, they were equaly strong, brave, and peacful in the face of their demise.
