As Hemingway's work is autobiographical, it contains much of the darkness that haunted him; such material may be viewed as rather too pessimistic and "mature" for younger audiences. In addition, his revelations on his and the Fitzgeralds' lifestyles may be less than exemplary and, again, beyond the ken of a young adult in seeing the underlying psychological problems of relationships such as F. Scott and Zelda's.
