The co-ordinates of the mid-point of two numbers `(x_1, y_1)` and `(x_2, y_2)` is `((x_1+x_2)/2, (y_1+y_2)/2)` .

As the mid point of (x, 14) and (8, y) is (6, -3):

(x + 8)/2 = 6 and (14 + y)/2 = -3

x + 8 = 12 and 14 + y = -6

x = 4 and y = -20

The value of x = 4 and y = -20
